If dip isn’t your thing, make my Homemade Apple Pie instead! It’s the best!

Why You’ll Love Apple Pie Dip

Easy To Make! I love Apple Pie, but I don’t always love making it. It’s not that it’s HARD to make, it’s just a few more steps than I sometimes feel like taking in the kitchen. This is like a deconstructed apple pie done in 30 minutes! Perfect For Entertaining! This is a great treat to set out at a party. All the flavors of apple pie, but no slicing and serving. So Many Ways To Enjoy! Obviously enjoying this as a dip is perfect, but you can also use this as a filling for an apple tart or apple dumplings. Or as a delicious topping for ice cream or yogurt!

Granny Smith Apples. I find that tart, form apples like Granny Smith work great in apple pie, so that’s what I chose to use. But of course you can use other apples as well. I would avoid red delicious or Fuji that tend to get a little mushy and watery when cooked. Ground Cinnamon. Apple pie just pairs perfectly with cinnamon. You could also use Apple Pie Spice, or even Pumpkin Pie Spice in its place. Light Brown Sugar. Using brown sugar in this recipe instead of granulated adds a little more richness. Kosher Salt. That pinch of salt enhances the apples natural flavor! Flour. You will need a little bit of flour to thicken up the sauce. You could also use cornstarch. Caramel Sauce. Salted caramel sauce or butterscotch sauce would be delicious too! Pie Crust. You can make your own pie crust for the “chips”. But the beauty of this recipe is the ease, so picking up a rolled store bought pie crust is great! I like the Trader Joe’s pre-made crust, but any brand will do! Egg Wash. This is simply an egg and some water whisked together to brush onto the pie crust pieces. It will give them a pretty golden brown, glossy finish.

Can You Use Your Own Pie Crust?

ABSOLUTELY! I use a pre-made crust that you can just roll out and bake to make things easy when making the chips for my Apple Pie Dip, BUT if want to go the extra mile homemade crust is ALWAYS better. I HIGHLY recommend you try my Pie Crust Recipe. It’s super flaky and buttery!

Can You Use Apple Pie Dip As A Pie Filling?

You can use apple pie dip as an apple pie filling, although the whole point is to NOT have to make pie! BUT with that said, there is no reason this wouldn’t work in a pie. I would only use 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce (or omit it entirely) if you plan on using this as pie filling, just so your pie isn’t too wet.

How To Store

This can safely be stored airtight in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or can be frozen airtight for up to 30 days.
