This is the first week that really feels like autumn. Crisp air and colorful leaves and I can finally break out my fluffy scarf and sock collections. So today we’re putting on our bartender pants and making Autumn Apple Sangria! Some fun times have been in the presence of sangria. Galavanting around Barcelona with my favorite ladies and stumbling through our college town in our annual Parents Bar Tour. But who says sangria has to stay in the summer months? Sure, summer-approved berry packed sangria is always a move, but why not autumn things up a bit? This sangria is just that — fall-flavored and packed with autumny apple cider and fresh apples and pomegranate!

Ingredients for Apple Cider Sangria

Easy fall sangria requires only 7 ingredients: apples, pomegranate seeds, a couple of flavorings, and the good stuff (aka the wine and brandy)!

Apples: First up, start with 2 apples cut into cubes. You can use your favorite apple varieties here!Pomegranate Seeds: Add ½ cup of pomegranate seeds for tasty fall flavor.Cinnamon: Next, use 4 cinnamon sticks to get that nutty, spicy taste. Use a few extra as drink stirrers for when you serve the sangria as well.Wine: To make this a true sangria, add 750 mL of your favorite dry white wine! Apple Cider: Include 3 cups of nonalcoholic apple cider. This doubles the ounces of sangria and also creates a yummy flavor. (Make your own apple cider here!)Brandy: Apricot, apple, or pear-flavored brandy all work great in this cool weather sangria. Use ¼ to ½ cup. You can also sub this for bourbon or a fruity liquor! Carbonated Water: Last but not least, add 1 cup of club soda to create a fizziness.

Optionally add in extra fruity fun with chopped plums, chopped pears, or sliced oranges!

How to make fall sangria with apple cider

Making this sangria is easy peasy! Just combine the ingredients, chill (if desired), and enjoy!

Dial up the fancy with a coated rim

Take your fancy level up a notch by combining a spoonful each of cinnamon and sugar. Dip the rim of your serving glasses into the sangria, then dip it in the cinnamon sugar mix before pouring in the sangria!

Do you eat the fruit in sangria?

The best part about sangria is always the fruity pieces you can enjoy in between sips! And for autumn sangria that includes the pomegranate seeds. Many people think you can’t eat them, but you can — the entire seed is totally edible. You can also eat the apples in this sangria, which soak up that delicious sangria flavor and make for a tasty treat as you sip.
