Today’s recipe is a real fun one. Essentially spoon some yogurt onto a sheet, cover with whatever yums you have on hand, freeze, and break apart. Boom, breakfast! Yes, this recipe can get messy while eating it, but with juicy fruit and creamy yogurt (and chocolate chips for good measure), it’s a fun snack or breakfast idea that I love to keep in the freezer for when the hunger strikes!
Yogurt Bark Ingredients
Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences and dietary needs. You can add coconut flakes, chia seeds, or any other fruits or nuts you enjoy for added texture and flavor!
Vanilla Yogurt: Provides a creamy base for the frozen yogurt bark, adding a luscious texture and a hint of sweetness. Whole milk yogurt is best because it will freeze better (as opposed to nonfat yogurt, which will become icy when frozen). Strawberries: Adds a burst of juicy and refreshing flavor, as well as vibrant color to the bark. Strawberries are also packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Blueberries: Introduces a pop of sweetness and a subtle tartness to complement the other flavors. Blueberries are known for their antioxidant properties and are a great source of vitamins and fiber. Granola: Offers a delightful crunch and adds a touch of nutty sweetness. It also provides extra fiber and nutrients to make the bark more satisfying. (This quinoa granola is great for yogurt bark!) Chocolate Chips: Brings a touch of indulgence and a hint of chocolatey goodness. You can opt for dark chocolate chips for a healthier twist, as dark chocolate contains antioxidants and less fat.
How To Make Yogurt Bark
Step 1: YogurtIn a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spread the yogurt evenly to create a layer that is about ¼ to ½ inch thick. Ensure that the yogurt is evenly distributed, allowing for a consistent texture throughout the frozen yogurt bark. Step 2: Toppings Sprinkle the chopped strawberries, blueberries, granola, chocolate chips, and any other desired toppings onto the yogurt layer. Be creative with your choices, adding a variety of colors, textures, and flavors. Press down gently with a spoon or spatula to ensure the toppings adhere to the yogurt and are evenly distributed. Step 3: Freeze Place the baking sheet the freezer. Allow it to freeze for approximately 4 hours, or until the yogurt is fully hardened. Freezing times may vary depending on the thickness of the yogurt layer and the temperature of your freezer. Once the yogurt is completely frozen, remove the baking sheet from the freezer. Carefully break the frozen yogurt bark into smaller pieces. Any leftover pieces can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for future snacking.
Flavor Options
Feel free to mix and match these flavor pairings to create your own unique combinations based on your personal preferences!
Coconut Yogurt + Mangoes: The tropical sweetness of mango pairs beautifully with creamy coconut yogurt, creating a refreshing and exotic flavor combination. Lemon Yogurt + Raspberries: The tartness of raspberries complements the zesty tang of lemon yogurt, resulting in a bright and tangy flavor combination. Cinnamon Yogurt + Apples: The crisp and slightly tart flavor of apples pairs wonderfully with the warm and aromatic taste of cinnamon yogurt, evoking cozy and comforting flavors.
Or for a higher protein option, use Greek yogurt in place of the regular yogurt (just be sure to add a bit of honey and vanilla to compensate for Greek yogurt’s tart flavor).
