Butter. I use salted butter in this recipe as I do in most my baking recipes, which is a personal preference. You can absolutely use unsalted butter if you prefer. Powdered sugar. Using powdered sugar in this recipe instead of granulated sugar gives these cookies a melt in your mouth texture. Kosher salt and all purpose flour Maraschino cherries. Doesn’t matter what brand you use, you will chop them up and add them to the cookie dough and then also use a bit of the juice to add cherry flavor and color. Extracts. You use a combination of vanilla and almond extract in this cookie recipe that enhances the cherry flavor. Pink food coloring. This is optional but it adds a little more pink coloring than just the cherry juice. It’s totally up to you! Hershey’s Kiss candy. I like the milk chocolate candies paired with the cherry cookies but there are lots of Hershey’s Kiss flavors you could use.
What Other Flavors of Hershey’s Kiss Can You Use In These Cookies?
Cherry Cordial. I don’t know if these are available year round, but how perfect would a Cherry Cordial Kiss be in these cookies? Hershey’s Hugs. Hugs are white chocolate with milk chocolate stripes and a milk chocolate filling. Perfect paired with cherry! Special Dark. Dark Chocolate and cherries are a match made in heaven! Milk Chocolate with Almond. There is a small amount of almond extract in the cookie dough, so adding a Kiss with an almond makes perfect sense!
How To Store Cherry Cookies
