Here before you lies an epic battle of man vs cereal. You see over the holidays I was at a friend’s house and she had this insanely sweet snack mix set out. In this snack mix there was the addition of white chocolate covered Cheerios. Well, I might have been the girl that picked them all out of the mix, leaving behind the graham crackers and peanuts for everyone else. I know, I know, no one likes THAT girl. Sorry. Well, I decided that there needed to be a mix of only chocolate covered Cheerios and then all my problems would be solved and I wouldn’t be THAT girl anymore. Simple solution. Until. Until I started dipping the Cheerios into the chocolate. Well, I then discovered why the Cheerios were the minority player in the snack mix. Because dipping individual Cheerios is not a super fun time. But I decided that I was gonna make it happen… I tried all sorts of different methods here…because covering them in chocolate isn’t the hard part.. it’s getting them not to stick together. Obviously they would be equally as tasty in clusters, but I wanted individual tiny snack pieces. No, you’re not the first person to call me OCD. I tried dipping them and removing them on a slotted spoon.  Didn’t work for me, they all stuck together. Tried lining them on twine and dipping them.  Didn’t work, they all stuck together and the twine got gross.. Tried lining them on a skewer and dipping them.. yep, you got it, they all stuck together. Tried pouring the chocolate over the Cheerios on a wire rack…Cheerios stuck to the wire rack and the bottoms stayed naked. 1/2 naked Cheerios are not acceptable. So here’s what I did… I dipped them, and fished them out with a fork and tapped and tapped and tapped all the excess chocolate… Then I used a skewer and removed them from the fork one by one…And put them on a piece of parchment paper to dry…Then I repeated the whole process with white chocolate.THEN my kids came home and started eating them by the handful and I got a little murdery and irrational. So make these as a cute cupcake garnish, or as an addition to snack mix or if you’re feeling generous with your time for someone you like a lot, an entire bowl of chocolate covered Cheerios.
