Can I use store-bought orange juice?

Freshly squeezed orange juice gives the best flavor to the cake so I would highly recommend that however, you can also use store-bought orange juice.

WHAT KIND OF CURD WORKS BEST FOR THIS RECIPE?

I have used sour cream but you can use yogurt or hung curd for this recipe. Make sure the curd doesn’t have whey separated and Always use non-sour hung curd.

SUBSTITUTE FOR CURD?

you can use 1/2 cup of condensed milk or 1/2 cup of sour cream or use 2 eggs instead of curd. If you are using condensed milk adjust the sugar accordingly.

WHY SHOULD I SIEVE DRY INGREDIENTS?

Over-mixed batter results in a dense cake so always sieve the dry ingredients well before mixing

CAN I BAKE IN THE PAN?

Yes place a stand and preheat the pan for 10 minutes on medium flame. Place the cake pan on top, cover it with a lid, and cook for 30-40 minutes on low flame.

Replace melted butter with flavorless oil

CAN I ADD FROSTING?

yes, you can add any frosting of your choice.  You can also prepare an orange glaze with powdered sugar and orange juice.

1 tablespoon + 1/2 tablespoon + 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon orange zest 1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon melted butter 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon orange juice orange food color

How to make Eggless orange cake with step-by-step pictures

Firstly preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit Line a baking tray with parchment paper and grease with cooking spray or butter Add sugar and sour cream to a wide mixing bowl; whisk well till the mixture turns creamy

Furthermore, add orange zest and melted butter; mix well

Take all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder; sieve well and add directly to the wet ingredients

Add orange juice; fold and mix gently

Pour orange juice into a small mixing bowl

Add food color and mix well; Transfer to the batter

If you feel you need more food color? Add it to 1 tablespoon of orange juice else add orange juice directly; mix gently

Transfer the batter to the pan and tap the pan to remove air bubbles

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick/skewer inserted comes out clean

Cool the cake for 10 minutes Invert and unmold the cake; cool it completely

Drizzle 1 tablespoon of orange juice and serve cake
