If you’re as obsessed with Tru Fru frozen chocolate raspberries as I am, then you know just how expensive that obsession can be. They make such a great healthy snack or dessert for when you’re craving something sweet; how can anyone resist?! These little chocolate bites consist of frozen fruit layered with white and dark chocolate. With such simple ingredients, I knew I could make them at home. I came up with a recipe for frozen chocolate-covered raspberries that’s easier to make than driving to Target!

Why you’ll love it

Minimal ingredients make this recipe a great choice for when your pantry or fridge is running low. Customizable because while I like these with raspberries, you could use strawberries, blueberries, or any other type of berry you like. A healthy snack for when you just need something for your sweet tooth!

You only need 4 ingredients

This list of ingredients couldn’t be simpler. Jump down to the recipe card for exact measurements, this is just an overview!

Raspberries: The original Tru Fru uses raspberries, and for good reason. Their slight tang is the perfect complement to creamy chocolate, and they are bite-sized! You could use fresh or frozen whole raspberries. White Chocolate: White chocolate adds most of the sweetness to contrast with dark chocolate. You could use baking chips, white chocolate chips, or chunks. Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate is much less sweet than milk chocolate, so pairing it with white chocolate was a no-brainer. Chocolate chips, baking chips, or chunks could all work for dark chocolate. Coconut Oil: This is the secret ingredient! When melted, mixed with chocolate, and frozen, it creates an irresistible crunch. For my fellow 90s kids, this is very similar to Hershey’s magic shell!

making frozen chocolate-covered raspberries is easy

To make this Tru Fru copycat, you only need a tray to freeze the berries and a bowl to melt the chocolate. Jump the recipe card for the full printable instructions.

Variations

Like I keep saying, this recipe can be customized in so many different ways! Here are just a few unique ways to enjoy frozen chocolate fruit.

Use peanut butter and banana to make an Elvix frozen treat. Add 1 tsp of peanut butter to the white chocolate and swap the raspberries for banana slices. You can also use milk chocolate in place of dark. Add some spice to this snack by mixing in 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper to the dark chocolate and swap the raspberries for frozen mangoes. Add some spring flare by mixing in the zest from half a lemon to the white chocolate, swap the raspberries for strawberry chunks, and omit the dark chocolate. Add protein by pipping Greek yogurt into the center of the raspberries before dipping.

Chocolate + Fruit = Match Made In Heaven!

These tasty bites can be enjoyed as a snack or dessert. They can also be enjoyed with a variety of other healthy snacks.
