A Secretly Healthy Smoothie
One of the most iconic smoothie combos is the timeless strawberry banana smoothie. But, without any added spinach or greens (like our go-to green smoothies), it can feel like too much sugar in the morning without the nutrients to balance it out. That’s why this smoothie has a healthy little secret—cauliflower! (Bet the title gave that away, huh?) Cauliflower is high in nutrients yet low in calories, meaning it adds bulk to your smoothie and makes you feel full for longer. And just like spinach, you can’t taste the cauliflower once it’s blended with juicy strawberries and creamy bananas! The fruity flavors mask its neutral taste, making this hidden cauliflower smoothie your new best friend in the AM.
You Only Need 4 Ingredients
While I went with a strawberry banana flavor for this smoothie, you could really add cauliflower to any smoothie recipe you want!
Cauliflower: When I have leftovers, I like to freeze cauliflower. It keeps so much longer and makes the smoothie icy cold (without needing ice). Strawberries: Use fresh or frozen berries, depending on the season! Bananas: My go-to sweetener for most smoothies! Bananas add a natural sweetness and creamy texture. If you don’t like bananas, substitute 1/4 cup of coconut milk or Greek yogurt. Milk: You can use cow’s milk or your favorite plant-based alternative, using just enough to get your smoothie moving (it may be more or less, depending on if you use fresh or frozen cauliflower and fruit).

Pack In The Protein: Add a scoop of your favorite type and flavor of protein (vanilla is delicious here!). Go Nuts For Nuts: Blend in a tablespoon of nut butter (like almond, peanut, or cashew) for added creaminess, protein, and healthy fats. Supercharge With Seeds: Add a tablespoon of chia seeds, flaxseeds, or hemp seeds (aka hemp hearts) for extra fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. Oat-Tastic: Throw in a quarter cup of rolled oats for a thicker texture and added fiber.
