A Taste Of The Tropics
There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a cup of juice. I mean, everyone loves fresh-squeezed orange juice way more than store-bought, right? Plus, homemade juice is typically packed with antioxidants like vitamin C. Well, we aren’t exactly squeezing passion fruits like we do oranges. Instead, we scoop all that tart deliciousness out of the fruit and blend it into a puree. Oh, and don’t worry — I have a trick to extract all the yellow pulp goodness for a seed-free beverage. This passion fruit juice recipe is perfect for trying new tropical flavors when you might not want to experience new textures. Plus, making your own passion fruit juice means you know exactly what is in it. There are no stabilizers, synthetic vitamins, or excess sugar here, people.
Grab These Ingredients
Passion Fruit Pulp: Passion fruit pulp is simply the insides of the passion fruit. You can scoop your own or find some frozen. Either way, it’s the perfect taste of the tropics. (Check our passion fruit 101 guide for tips on where and when to buy whole passion fruits)! Water: We always need more water in our day! Look at this as a way to flavor your water to get more in. Sugar: The best part about homemade juice is keeping it low in sugar. You are in charge of the sweetness and can taste as you go.
How to make Passion Fruit Juice
Making this lilikoi juice (as they say in Hawaii) couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is slice, blend, and drink! Step 1: Blitz The PulpUse a spoon to scoop your passion fruit pulp into the jar of a high-powered blender, then top it off with cold water. Step 2: Strain The MixtureOnce blended, use a fine-mesh strainer to catch any small pieces of seeds. No one wants crunchy tropical fruit juice! Step 3: Sweeten The JuiceDilute the passion fruit mixture in a pitcher with water. Taste to check your flavor levels, and then sweeten it until it’s just right.
Recipe tips
Sweet As Sugar: Use whatever sweetener you prefer here. Liquid sweeteners, like simple syrup, are generally easier to use in cold liquids, but granulated sugar works fine. Freezing Cold: If you can’t find whole passion fruit locally, you can purchase frozen puree. Just be aware that some frozen packages contain pulp, which is what this recipe blends up, and others contain puree, which can be directly diluted with water—no blender is needed. Make A Concentrate: You can make a passion fruit juice concentrate by simply making passion fruit puree! Freeze the puree into cubes to have passion fruit juice at the ready anytime. Just add water!
