That is, 1 cup of water and 1 cup of rice. But I cook using 1:1.15, it gives more fluffy rice. 1:2 proportion is not required when making in an Instant Pot or any pressure cooker. As the lid is sealed and water cannot evaporate, so cooking in less liquid will result in a perfectly cooked rice. I usually cook using Vegetable Stock, as it gives a nice flavor to the rice as well. Rinsing - First and foremost step is to rinse the rice so that all the starch gets removed. I first add brown rice in a big strainer and rinse them until water runs out clear or for 1-2 minutes. Then soak the rice in water for 5- 10 minutes. Pressure Cooking - The next step is to pressure cook, adding water & rice in the Instant Pot. But before that, I add oil in the pot because otherwise the rice will stick at the bottom of the pot. Then I add water & rice with some salt and give it a stir. Cook at High Pressure for 15 minutes, or using Rice Setting at High-Pressure Level for 15 minutes. Fluff Rice - The last step is to fluff the rice once the pressure cycle completes. Use a fork or spoon to fluff gently. If you stir then the rice may break. Then you can season it as needed, or eat it with curry or lentils. Any way you prefer, brown rice will always taste great.
