A Foolproof Overnight Oats formula
We’re serious fans of oatmeal around here. Maybe it’s because it’s so customizable (savory oatmeal, anyone?), or maybe it’s the fiber-packed deliciousness that keeps us full for hours (I mean, the nutritionist in me is totally here for that!). I always enjoy a freshly cooked bowl, but overnight oats? These are a not-morning person’s best friend. Just stir up some rolled oats, chia seeds, fruits, and milk before bed. When you wake up, breakfast is ready! (Seriously, does it get any easier?) And since I’m all about efficiency (oat-y, tasty efficiency), I created a foolproof formula for layered overnight oats in virtually any flavor. They’re all made with the same 5-ingredient base and ready in 5 minutes!
Start With The Base Ingredients
First, let’s talk about the foundation of layered overnight oats. No matter which flavor you make, you’ll need these 5 ingredients.
Oats: First, we’ll use ½ cup of old-fashioned rolled oats. (Find out the difference between steel cut, instant, and rolled oats here!) Milk: Follow the oats with ½ cup of milk. You can use any variety here, whether soy, almond, cow, sweetened, or unsweetened—whatever is to your liking (or in your fridge)! Chia Seeds: Next, add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. This adds a bit of thickness to the recipe and a whole lot of vitamins and minerals. Sweetener: Add some sweetness with 1 tablespoon of your preferred sweetener. I recommend honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar! Salt: Finally, finish things off with a pinch of salt! This may seem like an odd ingredient, but the salt actually enhances the sweetness of the oats.
How To Layer Overnight Oats
Once you’ve chosen your flavor combo, you’re ready for assembly. It’s as simple as layering everything and letting the oats chill!
