Maple Syrup: Maple syrup is a great alternative to artificial sweeteners in cooking, baking, or even your morning coffee. It’s important that you use 100% pure maple syrup. If you are wondering if it’s the good stuff, check the ingredient list, it should have one ingredient listed! Pure maple syrup is derived directly from maple tree sap and when consumed in moderation can be part of your healthy diet! Maple syrup also contains vitamins and minerals and is an excellent source of manganese (which helps process cholesterol, carbs, and protein in your body). It’s a good source of riboflavin and even has calcium, and potassium (among other things) within it.  Pecans: Pecans are a great source of calcium, magnesium, and potassium which all can help lower blood pressure. Most of the fat in pecans is the healthy kind and pecans add a delicious crunch to the topping of this maple bar recipe. If you don’t have pecans or don’t like them, you can also swap them for walnuts.

How to make this maple bar recipe vegan: If you are not vegan, you can use regular eggs, and swap out butter for a vegan alternative. How do I make this recipe gluten-free? If you are GF then use a 1:1 gluten-free flour instead of the all-purpose flour. Storage: The bars will last up to 1 week at room temperate in a tightly sealed container. Bourbon: I think the bourbon in this maple bar recipe adds a great flavor, but if you aren’t a fan or don’t have any, you can omit it completely.
